quarter master - mahina
In contrast to Nick, Lake Taupo native Mahina was never really into sports, adventure, or anything outdoorsy growing up.
Taking care of differently-abled children since high school, she chose to forego university and live in the south of France as an au pair, a role which combined her love of children with her love of travel.
After their paths first crossed in 2006, Mahina quickly recognised Nick’s passion for sailing and slowly developed a love of being on the water herself. Working in the Caribbean aboard mono-hulls and catamarans proved to be one of life’s turning points for them both.
Today, Nick and Mahina spend their days sharing the area’s breathtaking views, amazing cuisine, and unique culture with anyone looking for adventure like no other aboard their million-dollar vessel.
Adventure meets luxury onboard Mila Felice, Hanse 548. This modern, high-performance yacht is over 54 feet long and 16 feet wide.

Accommodation
Mila Felice comfortably accommodates six guests in three spacious guest cabins all with ensuites, with a separate cabin for Nick, your Skipper. In each cabin, you will find air-conditioning, AC/220volt plugs, USB charging ports, well appointed bedding, pillows and duvets. In every bathroom, guests will find bath towels, hand towels, tissues, and complimentary toiletries.

The Saloon
Below deck, the open plan saloon (lounge/dining area) and galley (kitchen) are spacious and bright. Your dining area sits just forward of the kitchen and features a large dining table with comfortable room for six. The dining table lowers to create a fantastic below-deck play area for the kids between meals.It also acts as a day bed when you can escape the heat of the day. Plus the storage throughout means you have room for everything.
The Galley
The galley of the Hanse 548 is a standout feature designed for both functionality and comfort. It includes a fully equipped island-style layout with a three-burner gas stove, an oven, a microwave, a stainless-steel sink, and a 140-litre 12V refrigerator. Its positioning creates an open, sociable atmosphere, connecting seamlessly with the dining and lounge areas. This setup ensures practicality for cooking onboard while maintaining a stylish and homely feel.
The galley has been well equipped, ensuring charterers have all the essentials including an ice maker, microwave, and Nespresso coffee machine,. For more traditional brewing, a French press, kettle and toaster are also provided. The galley is fully equipped with pots and pans, tableware and cutlery, offering everything needed for meals onboard. With top-quality appliances, it’s the perfect setup for self-catering.
Master Suite (aft)
The aft (back) master cabin is a true highlight of Mila Felice. Designed with elegance and comfort in mind, it features a raised large double berth and a dedicated master bathroom with a separate shower. The space is ideal for those seeking a private sanctuary on board.
Two Forward Cabins
Each forward cabin is a spacious double, complete on their own each with its own ensuite bathroom and shower, ensuring privacy and comfort for guests. The wall separating the two cabins can be removed to create an expansive double suite with his-and-her bathrooms. Mila Felice then becomes the perfect retreat for two couples, offering unheard of dual master suites

The Cockpit
The cockpit on the Hanse 548 is very spacious andincludes two tables, where breakfast can beserved each morning. The tables can even belowered to kid’s height for easier use.After breakfast, the tables can be transformedinto two large lounges, wide enough to fit twoadults laying down. This provides a shaded placeto kick back and relax during the day. And wecan’t forget the barbecue and drinks fridge, bothessentials for your charter week.
On Deck
If sun baking is your thing, you’ll find loungingcushions under the boom as well as up the fronton the bow.The swimming platform lowers to open the backof the boat up completely and is ideal forswimming when on anchor or mooring.
Add to thisthe stairs, one of the best features of Mila Felice. This platform also makes stepping off the boatmuch easier when the vessel is docked in the evenings.
I completed my day skipper and VHF course last year and having Nick along to share the skippering, guide us on our itinerary, and calmly coach me as a new skipper was ideal. We’re already talking about booking the next one.
